Yes — every font in this comparison comes from the Google Fonts library, open source and free for personal and commercial use under licenses like the SIL Open Font License. Each font's own page links to its authoritative license.

The smaller paragraph, not the large heading line — differences in x-height, letter spacing, and stroke contrast that barely register at display sizes become obvious at 16px, which is closer to how the font will actually be read.

It can rule a font out entirely — the language subsets row above shows how many scripts each family covers. If your content needs Cyrillic, Arabic, or another non-Latin script, check that the font actually includes it before anything else.

Sometimes, but two families is usually the practical ceiling for one project — one for headings, one for body text. If these two appear as a suggested pairing above, they're a combination that already works well together.
